CCN - BALLET DE LORRAINE
MAUD LE PLADEC · Static Shot
MARCO DA SILVA FERREIRA · a Folia
1h25 with intermission
True to its ambition of performing a new repertoire, the CCN – Ballet de Lorraine presents two new works commissioned from Maud Le Pladec and Marco da Silva Ferreira, each exploring the group’s malleability and energy.
Two pieces infused with euphoria and ecstasy come together to form an exhilarating program. Maud Le Pladec conceived Static Shot as a cinematic sequence lasting about thirty minutes, where movement and gaze never cease. On stage, bodies and sounds merge into a constant state of climax. Driven by the 130 beats per minute of music composed by DJ Chloé and Pete Harden, the group moves in unison, continually reshaping itself in a pop-inspired, hypnotic choreography.
Meanwhile, Portuguese choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira delves into a collective trance, drawing inspiration from the folia, a rural folk dance that once offered 16th-century shepherds an escape from societal norms. This dance inspired a musical theme that has echoed through history, reimagined in the Baroque era by composer Arcangelo Corelli and now revisited with synthesizers. It creates a striking parallel between traditional Portuguese festivities and the dances of our modern age.
