HIP-HOP STAGE 1
CARMEL LOANGA · L'Effet Mère
MARLÈNE GOBBER · Mantra
Est. 1h30
Two socially engaged solo works, two life journeys in which dance becomes an instrument to remedy, to anchor, and to transmit. Carmel Loanga and Marlène Gobber give form to their histories, navigating between tradition and resistance.
CARMEL LOANGA · L’Effet Mère (The Mother Effect) · Created in 2025
Through her choreography tinged with hip-hop and traditional dance, Carmel Loanga explores the invisible traces of maternal transmission. In this sensitive yet powerful solo performance, she explores her African origins, her experience as a black woman and immigrant mother in France. Each gesture becomes a carrier of memory, culture, struggle, and love. A vibrant solo piece that interweaves identity, heritage, and the desire for transmission.
MARLÈNE GOBBER · Mantra · INITIATIVES D’ARTISTES
In Mantra, Marlène Gobber turns dance into a space of caring, resistance, and revelation. Inspired by her own family history and the emotions and memories that run deeply through it, this solo work draws on hip-hop, yoga, martial arts, and somatic techniques. The body becomes a language, a force for emancipation, and a vector of transmission of inter-generational memories.
MARLÈNE GOBBER and CARMEL LOANGA are supported by Initiatives d’Artistes en Danses Urbaines, a program co-founded by the Fondation de France and La Villette.
Cultural action and Mediation
As part of its Artistic and Cultural Education (EAC) policy, La Villette will welcome in 2025/26 more than 16,000 pupils and participants from social-sector organizations or healthcare and medico-educational institutions, as well as 2,000 university students.
