Following on the incendiary experience of A Noiva e o Boa Noite Cinderela (The Bride and the Goodnight Cinderella), presented at La Villette in 2024, Carolina Bianchi and the collective Cara de Cavalo have returned with The Brotherhood, the second chapter of the Cadela Força Trilogy, which combines sexual violence and art history in a stultifying unprecedented manner.

In A Noiva e o Boa Noite Cinderela, Carolina Bianchi put her body to the test to confront the stories of femicides that she invoked through her own body. Still driven by the desire to weave a strange, provocative relationship between personal trauma, the sexual violence endured by women around the world, and art history, the Brazilian performer awakens at the opening of The Brotherhood in a theatre. This time, she looks at the community of men as the foundation of the patriarchy and of the history of the theatre. Accompanied by eight actors, she explores the codes, pacts, languages, those who remain excluded, and the consequences of this “brotherhood” and the representative quality of its infliction of sexual violence. How does a female artist insert herself into a genealogy dominated by male figures? How can a woman bring forth her voice when it has been shaped by the voices of men? After the hell of the first part of this “Dantesque” trilogy, we find ourselves in a purgatory, a space of waiting, dissonance, and non-belonging.

Performance in Brazilian Portuguese with French and English surtitles.

Some scenes (sex, nudity, alcohol, assault) may be disturbing to sensitive or unprepared audiences. The show also features loud music, strobe lighting, and smoke effects.
