MATHILDA MAY
Cut!
Des histoires, des vies
1h20
For her sixth production as author and director, Mathilda May distills the very essence of a multitude of different stories, creating, through laughter and emotion, a kaleidoscope of humanity in motion.
In a minimalist stage design, six performers (three women and three men) deliver a physically expressive and committed performance, bringing to life a collection of vivid characters: a couple in love strolling through a forest, a coach rallying their team at halftime, a group of people trapped in an elevator, a doctor and their staff frantically searching for a hospital bed… Like scrolling on a phone, the direction skips from one story to another at breakneck speed, driven by Sly Johnson’s sound composition, which gives voice to the unspoken within these shared moments of life. Almost every time, a scene that begins as contemporary and ordinary suddenly shifts, thrown off balance by an unexpected event or encounter, revealing the fragility, absurdity, inconsistency, but also the courage and beauty of our human experience. In this fragmented narrative where drama meets farce, politics meets entertainment, and the social meets the absurd, Mathilda May offers a portrait of humanity in all its richness and complexity.
Bicycle batteries are not allowed inside the venue.
