Double Dutch
Freely Battles
Street Jumper Battle
At the crossroads of sport, dance, and urban cultures, Double Dutch takes over the Grande Halle at Parc de la Villette on June 6 and 7, 2026, for a weekend driven by performance, creativity, and shared experience. Through the Freely and Street Jumper Battle events, it highlights a discipline that is both spectacular and accessible, conceived as a genuine space for expression for younger generations through jump rope.
On Saturday, the Freely Battles, created by Ryutaro Hidaka, bring together young participants aged 15 and under, who showcase their creativity, musicality, and style in one-on-one freestyle duels, performing before both a jury and the audience in a spirit of learning and self-improvement.
On Sunday, the spotlight shifts to the Street Jumper Battle, led by the collective The RopeStylers and open to participants aged 16 and over, where hip-hop culture meets athletic performance in rhythmic and visually striking battles.
Presented as part of Freestyle Villette, the event represents a key milestone in the development and recognition of Double Dutch in France and across Europe.
DDDG is a non-profit organisation founded in 2012. It offers complete Double Dutch introduction and training programs in a safe and supportive setting for all audiences. DDDG customises its workshops for organisations seeking a complete programme focused on jumprope.
The team conducts introductory, intermediate, and competitive workshops and a variety of programmes that are fun, educational, cultural, and sports-oriented. It educates people, especially participants, about the benefits of playing sports in a team setting while having fun in the process.
DDDG has never stopped expanding its reach since its founding. Its trainers (the team known as “The Rope Stylers”) have participated in numerous competitions, television shows, stage performances, and other venues.
Double Dutch is an athletic activity that inspires a sense of the aesthetic, the acrobatic, and the choreographic. It involves performing tricks while jumping between two ropes that rotate in alternating arcs, all while keeping a steady rhythm. Roles may change, as a jumper may turn into a turner, and vice-versa.
It is a complete and highly original activity. As a very visual form of street art, this sport is always a favourite among audiences.
