CLARA HÉDOUIN

Manières d’être vivant
after Baptiste Morizot

Duration

Approx. 1h50

Staging thought the way Baptiste Morizot expresses it in his books. Following in the author’s footsteps, Clara Hédouin revisits our kinship with the living world within an ambiance of a nocturnal pursuit. This epic investigation for six performers and the audience gives rise to a dizzying theatre of watchfulness.

Absorbed by the question of the living world, Hédouin conducts a remarkable exploration of the links between the human and the non-human, one grounded in both the stage and in a variety of landscapes. Here we walk in the footsteps of trackers immersed in the darkness of the mountains as they follow a pack of wolves. During this search, the focus of our attention disintegrates, shifts, becoming ever more unfathomable and mysterious, heading towards a contemplation of the meaning of life itself. Like the text from which she has drawn her inspiration, this piece is ultimately a philosophical expedition. The stage hosts a narrative for six characters who are sharpening their instincts as a way to relearn how to inhabit the world. Shapes blurred by a dense night, wild detectives breaking through the invisible explore the deep forest of our feelings, uprooting the legacy of our animal selves. A meditative tale about our place in this world and what it means to be alive.
