The Beginning of Something
Ages 7 and older
1h
A fascinating blend of visual theatre, textile sets and child-friendly philosophy: this is the hallmark of Compagnie L’Unanime. Here, it unfolds in an apparently ordinary setting inhabited by four characters, whose secrets are not always well kept.
At Emma, Cyril, Anna and Federico’s, everything is calm. An immaculate living room, a perfectly equipped kitchen, a carefully tended garden: all is well. But beneath the veneer of the ordinary and the cosy surroundings of recycled wool, a joyful earthquake lying dormant is just waiting to make everything vibrate. The Beginning of Something delights in uncovering the beginnings of great adventures in the small things of everyday life. It explores how stories begin to take shape: from those we tell and share as we grow, to the more private ones savoured alone in the tranquillity of a bedroom. Playing with the conventions of visual theatre to transform tiny dramas into great moments of stage magic, the quartet opens up a world where everything can be reinvented at any moment. Once again, Compagnie L’Unanime delivers a sensitive and delightfully original work, inviting us to look beyond the foreground and listen to what stirs between the lines, allowing reality to crack open under a generous dose of fantasy.
