NATIONAL CENTER OF CIRCUS ARTS
Brûler d'envies
Thesis performance for the 36th graduating class, set into motion by David Gauchard and Martin Palisse
Suitable for 10+ years
Est. 1h10
This show under the big top at La Villette is a not-to-be-missed rendezvous with the next generation of circus performers, a chance to discover the artists who have just graduated from the CNAC, France’s National Centre of Circus Arts.
In a world drawn from a futuristic urban imagination, where synthetic light has almost entirely replaced the sun, six acrobats become one with their movements, constantly defying gravity. Here, the acrobatic act is a rite of passage – a rhythm, a resistance, a self-transcendence, and an introspection. Set to an original score by Pangar, based on a tense dialogue between binary and ternary rhythms – an electronic and experimental polyrhythm – the six circus artists burn with desire, leap, endure, and sway; time, in turn, stretches into infinity. Light vibrations collide, generating vital energy. Acrobatics become as much a challenge as a game, a trance. The group moves as one, densifies, intensifies, transforms into a fiery magma, drawing us into their most magnetic spaces. Together, David Gauchard, Martin Palisse, their entire creative team, and these six young talents invite you to experience a dark yet incandescent, sensitive, and ultimately luminous performance.
Open seating
The Villette team recommends this show for ages 10 and up, considering the overall atmosphere of the performance (a dark opening scene and the performers’ physical work).
The performance includes smoke and light effects that may cause discomfort for some audience members.
Earplugs are available upon request from the front-of-house staff.
