DOUBLE DUTCH DANCE AND GYMNASTICS
Freely France
Freely France is introducing the concept Freely for the first time ever in France, imagined by Ryutaro Hidaka, pioneer of Double Dutch in Japan. This unique format combines competition, creativity, sharing, and learning by giving all young participants the possibility of expressing themselves using a jumprope.
With Freely, Double Dutch becomes a platform for freedom of expression, diversity, and intercultural interaction for young people. A first, digital edition of Freely was launched in France in 2025, which brought participants together online and prompted the formation of a French community around this format. This was a testing ground for rules, teaching methods, and mediation, and for preparing an ambitious, in-person edition.
In 2026, The Ropestylers, a French collective considered one of the best in Europe, partnered with Ryutaro Hidaka to produce this first, staged, in-person edition, which will mark a major milestone in the recognition of Double Dutch in France and in Europe.
The Finale will be presented at Freestyle Villette!
DDDG is a non-profit organisation founded in 2012. It offers complete Double Dutch introduction and training programs in a safe and supportive setting for all audiences. DDDG customises its workshops for organisations seeking a complete programme focused on jumprope.
The team conducts introductory, intermediate, and competitive workshops and a variety of programmes that are fun, educational, cultural, and sports-oriented. It educates people, especially participants, about the benefits of playing sports in a team setting while having fun in the process.
DDDG has never stopped expanding its reach since its founding. Its trainers (the team known as “The Rope Stylers”) have participated in numerous competitions, television shows, stage performances, and other venues.
Double Dutch is an athletic activity that inspires a sense of the aesthetic, the acrobatic, and the choreographic. It involves performing tricks while jumping between two ropes that rotate in alternating arcs, all while keeping a steady rhythm. Roles may change, as a jumper may turn into a turner, and vice-versa.
It is a complete and highly original activity. As a very visual form of street art, this sport is always a favourite among audiences.
