Anne Gourdet-Marès creates a visual and musical tale that rekindles the magic of the earliest light projections. Using authentic 19th century glass paintings and silent films, the artists set a journey in motion to the origins of cinema.

A long time ago, an astrophysicist passionate about his work, busy all day observing the stars, wanted to brighten the stories he told his children in the evening, which lacked images. It was then that he invented the ancestor of cinema: the magic lantern. Here, it brings to life on the screen splendid hand-painted images, alongside a grand projection interwoven with films by the pioneers of the seventh art, accompanied live by Axel Nouveau on piano. This marks the beginning of a fascinating journey, through a winter walk on the Moon, incredible acrobatic shows, the discovery of butterfly metamorphosis, an immersion among flowers and kaleidoscopic rosettes… In tribute to the unconditional enchantment of early cinema imagery, storyteller and historian Anne Gourdet-Marès navigates between humor, tenderness, and mystery to make this cine-show a shared experience of returning to the roots. A breeze of curiosity for the little ones, a gust of magic for the grown-ups.
