In pursuit of a small, glowing animal, two brothers embark on an adventure full of wonder, through a world full of unknown creatures. A large, funny, and poetic fresco, entirely designed using needlework.
After spotting a “light fly” (a frail creature as bright as a firefly) darting between the dry stones of a house, two boys make it their mission to track it down. But this worthy intention soon leads them into a strange world inhabited by mysterious, mesmerising organisms that emerge from giant cocoons and other marvellous chrysalises. In a set of hand-embroidered wool, crafted with the utmost subtlety, each object is handled in full view to become a puppet, a living accessory, or a travelling companion, with the audience’s tacit involvement. With their unabashed exploitation of the absurd and infectious humour, even in the show’s music, the artists subvert our sense of fear to stimulate transformations that help us grow. A textile and musical epic that threads the metaphor of a great subject: the quest for meaning.
