PHILIPPE DECOUFLÉ / DCA COMPANY
Entre-Temps
1h50
In Entre-Temps (In the Meantime), the most mischievous of French choreographers brings together nine dancers, close friends from rich backgrounds who explore their past to talk about the present: a deeply human performance.
Using a pared-down aesthetic, Philippe Decouflé has sought to construct a theatrical language woven from many different timeframes: the time we live, but also the time we dream, walk, the time of everyday life, of déjà vu, of eternal return… The set elements and the performers’ bodies are themselves inscribed in time, each in his or her own place. From classical ballet to cabaret, by way of traditional and contemporary dance, Entre-Temps summons and melds their choreographic memories as a way to magnify the beauty of artists of all ages. The performance is set to the rhythm of Gwendal Giguelay’s piano, as if for a silent film or beginners’ dance classes. The music plays with the simultaneity of different time signatures, repetition and variation, temporal loops, and mirroring effects. With this walk through the stitches of time, Philippe Decouflé celebrates the extraordinary power of dance.
