The graduation show by the National Circus Arts Centre (CNAC) is the not-to-be-missed event in the circus world at La Villette where audiences can discover the prowess and promise of tomorrow’s performing artists.

This year’s show has been conceived and staged by author, performer, director, and stage director Halory Goerger. As the cofounder of Amicale de Production, equally at home in musical theatre, circus, and installation, he has given us &&&&& & &&& and Germinal, for example, two shows that have been performed across the world for a number of years. For this aptly named Graduation Show, he has developed his concept of a meta-theatrical, playful and zany stage: “Fourteen individuals try to understand what is happening at a show that has not yet been written, not yet been performed by people who have not yet finished learning what they already do very well, and who have not yet decided how to go about it all”. How will the eight disciplines featured in the 37th class of the CNAC (balance, Chinese pole, Cyr wheel, acro-dance, slackline, acrobatic lifts, fixed trapeze, straps) embody this moment of fun and light-hearted sharing? There’s more than enough material here to pique the curiosity of experts and neophytes alike.

Cultural action and mediation

Alongside La Villette’s Arts and Cultural Education team, the company’s performers conduct more than ten hours of workshops, five rehearsal visits, and seven surprise interventions in schools.
