HOUSE OF BASTET
House of Bastet is an arts and education organisation that promotes the visibility of women artists, intergenerational transmission, and the creation of innovative projects at the intersection of the performing arts, clubbing and hip-hop cultures, and Afro-descendant spiritualities. House of Bastet considers dance forms such as hip-hop, house, waacking, and voguing as vital artistic languages that combine individual expression, collective memory, and spiritual power.
At Freestyle Villette, House of Bastet is putting on an immersive staged battle that it has envisioned as a space for reappropriation, growth, and celebration through three fundamental styles: hip-hop freestyle, waacking, and house dance. The event aims to be artistic, political, and inclusive, a vibrant tribute to Afro-descendant and queer dance forms, all the while placing a powerful female voice at the heart of the programme.
The battle will take place in various stages: a jam to house music, a dance performance, a battle Seven To Smoke in hip-hop, house dance, and waacking, live music, and a finale.
