L2P CONVENTION
Carte blanche
Ongoing work by choreographic artists supported by a network of incubators, featuring talks and project pitches from partner organizations.
What does networking incubators engaged in aesthetics rooted in hip-hop dance and its adjacent communities enable? How do these collective dynamics concretely transform artists’ careers, recognition, and working conditions?
Launched in 1998 by the Fondation de France and La Villette, Initiatives d’Artistes en Danses Urbaines (IADU) is part of the French network of incubators dedicated to supporting hip-hop dance and related aesthetics. This network gathers at Freestyle Villette for a three-part carte blanche, designed as a space for reflection, exchange, and visibility for supported artists.
Four companies from these incubators will present excerpts from their ongoing creations: Huaskar Alcòn (9.0 – Nantes), Naoko Tozawa (CUB – Annecy), Julie Rilos and Leïla Miretti (IADU – Paris), and Petit Écume (Art-Track – Lille).
A discussion session, moderated by Pierrick Vially, will then bring together artists and incubators to open a critical space of dialogue on the responsibilities of support structures: rethinking frameworks of legitimacy, questioning power dynamics in choreographic production, and building fairer, more sustainable systems better adapted to artists’ realities.
The morning will conclude with a series of artistic pitch sessions led by companies supported by partner institutions: CCN de Rennes et de Bretagne, CCN de Rillieux-la-Pape, CCN de Créteil et du Val-de-Marne, and La Place.
