MOLIÈRE FEST
Open-air theatre festival
Taking over the Prairie du triangle, the nearby Folies and their forecourts, the Jardin de la treille, and the Folie belvédère, this inaugural edition of the festival is designed as a celebration where Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, better known as Molière, would gather a few friends to honor theatre. On the program: performances, shows, readings, and workshops, all free and enjoyable from an early age.
Due to the high temperatures, hats, water bottles, and fans are highly recommended.
Program
THE THREE MUSKETEERS – THE SERIES • Clara Hédouin and Jade Herbulot / Collectif 49 701
The Time of Honor
For all audiences from 8 years old
Overture
6:30 PM · Prairie du triangle – Folie Kermès
Duration 30min
Experience life in a troupe while adapting a great novel? Why not. Born from the Studio-Théâtre in Asnières-sur-Seine, Collectif 49 701 led by Clara Hédouin and Jade Herbulot takes on Alexandre Dumas’ popular serial and adapts it into an epic, immersive, and extraordinary theatrical saga. A blockbuster ahead of its time, The Three Musketeers unfolds in 3 major modular cycles totaling around twenty episodes of about 30 minutes each. Designed for open-air, this thrilling work interacts with the architecture of the venues and engages the audience as both witnesses and extras.
FRIDAY • Nicolas Verdier / Compagnie Dropleton
With the contribution of Serge Bagdassarian of the Comédie-Française
Freely inspired by Friday, or the Limbo of the Pacific by Michel Tournier
For all audiences from 10 years old
7:00 PM · Jardin de la treille
Duration 1h15
Suspended in the present moment, in absolute destitution and alone for too long on his makeshift raft-cabin made of recycled odds and ends, Friday seems to wait. A scruffy, crooked clown, this unlikely survivor discovers and observes the crowd, catches a word, a laugh, a movement, and eventually strikes up a dialogue as improbable as it is fruitful. In contact with the audience, Friday humorously and poetically questions what makes society, life, love, and death, exploring our human connections with sensitivity and delight.
MOLIÈRE SUMMER • L’éventuel hérisson bleu
Project labeled “Artist Initiatives – La Villette”
For all audiences
7:30 PM · Prairie du triangle – Folie N7
Duration 45min
The third study of a work composed of small forms centered around Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, Molière Summer reconnects with the itinerant years of the Illustre Théâtre. Molière’s troupe becomes a family united by adversity and the playwright writes his first texts. Here, a modified Dacia Logan station wagon replaces the cart from which Molière (in person!) and some of his iconic characters emerge.
MOLIÈRE AND HIS MASKS • Simon Falguières / Compagnie le K
Dream farce on the life and death of Molière
For all audiences from 7 years old
8:30 PM · Prairie du triangle – Folie N6
Duration 1h30
This fresco depicts the glorious and pathetic life of Molière. Romanticized, invented, or false, it is inspired by the most famous French troupe leader. “We are not Molière, but our art is the same,” says the prologue. Driven by the excellent multi-talented troupe of Simon Falguières, the cavalcade of characters drawn from the most iconic plays appears alongside historical or fictional figures and Molière himself. While the chronology is respected from L’Étourdi ou les Contretemps to Le Malade imaginaire, the scenes follow one another at a frantic pace, far from any plausibility. Molière and His Masks reconnects with popular farce.

Proudly embracing a whimsical, picaresque style, our modern-day Quixote amuses us greatly with nothing more than a plush horse between his legs.
