UNDERSCORE COLLECTIVE
RISTER · Décor intime
YAKES · Paysage mental
Underscore Collective is a creative alliance of six highly dedicated artists. Each one has their own, unique world, but they are united by a shared desire to push the boundaries of artistic expression. Together, they cultivate a space where art becomes a universal language that transcends individual media and styles.
Each member of the collective brings their own unique perspective to things. As painters, sculptors, photographers, video artists, and performers, they nurture one another through their differences to offer highly original creative works that explore the boundary between the individual and the universal, and between the real and the imaginary.
Their works, created on a collaborative basis, asks us to reflect on our contemporary society, human nature, and a variety of cultural and environmental issues. Underscore Collective does not limit itself to one aesthetic or message; it is a true experimental laboratory where art becomes a locus of exchange and mutual inspiration.
From exhibitions to artist residencies and public performances, the collective uses a variety of formats and events to engage in an ongoing dialogue with audiences. They seek to foster a direct, emotionally driven interaction in which the work becomes an immersive and participative experience.
For Freestyle Villette, Yakes and Rister are creating two murals beneath the entrance tunnel to the Boulevard Périphérique. At the crossroads of abstraction and universal symbolism, these two pieces foster a dialogue through their shared use of bright colours and organic motifs.
