In its return to La Villette, the Ambiguous Dance Company presents The Belt, a physical and sensorial journey sustained by a contagious, raw energy. In this incandescent dance, bodies give in to the electrifying music, melding contemporary visions with the power of the collective.

Since 2008, Ambiguous Dance Company, founded by Boram Kim, has charted a singular course in Korea’s choreography scene. With his extensive experience in the music industry, the choreography has developed a dance practice that is nurtured by sound and which prioritises listening, sensation, and an engagement with the body, free of all restraints. He has continued this quest in The Belt, where he explores a dynamic of organic transformation, a continuous loop in which gestures are transmitted, transformed, and accumulated, where each movement arises from the previous one and already heralds what it will become. With a taut, continuous electronic score that never ceases to build up, the music serves as the driving force of this work. It draws the performers into a constant progression that generates a highly physical dance and drives towards an increasing degree of intensity. In this saturated space, the piece blurs the boundaries between concert and performance, and between abstraction and sensation. Time appears to condense Past, present and future seem to coexist in the same movement within this journey that pushes the body to its very limits, somewhere between control and letting go.
