Compagnie 14:20 returns to La Villette with several practitioners of New Magic to provide a festive and whimsical evening. Impossible levitations, moving shadows, invisibilities, card tricks, and other surprises offer the audience a moment suspended in time.
As pioneers of the New Magic movement, Compagnie 14:20 places sensory disorientation and the subversion of reality at the heart of its aesthetic practice. For more than twenty years, it has developed and shared this unique, burgeoning language as a way to bring many artistic disciplines together – in other words, a magnificent playground, full of mystery. For this magical evening, which takes the form of a cabaret, Raphaël Navarro features several of the company’s signature sequences, inviting magicians from all walks of life to create a constellation of acts that reveal the wealth and diversity of contemporary magic, a myriad of artistic gestures that all seek to defy reality. Accompanied by live music, dance, theatre of objects, and circus arts fuse to create a Surrealist suite of poetry, laughter, and imaginary worlds.
