GOLDEN STAGE

Golden Stage performs two choreographic works sustained by a collective dynamic. UnitS brins together seven female hip-hop dancers around their life experiences. Autre Part takes its cues from Carmel Loanga’s repertory to compose an immersive form that turns the stage into a space for celebration. Two pieces that reveal the power of the group and of collective effort.
UNITS • UnitS • INITIATIVES D’ARTISTES
UnitS brings together seven female dancers from the world of hip-hop around shared practices and experiences. Between freestyle, choreographic, and underground cultures, they compose a piece combining improvisation and composition. They use their life journeys as a way to explore their place within a milieu that is still largely male. They assert the need to come together, using their bodies as a space for collective expression and transformation.
CARMEL LOANGA • Autre Part • INITIATIVES D’ARTISTES
Autre Part [“Another Part”] condenses and reactivates Carmel Loanga’s repertory in an immersive, continuous form. The choreographer uses excerpts from her work to compose a journey at the crossroads of performance and site-specific practice. With eleven performers and a sound work evoking a DJ set, the piece unfolds through sudden appearances and wanderings that draw the audience into a physical and sensory experience of the space. This work has been widely heralded by critics in Britain and received numerous awards.
