This year, Golden Stage is forging links between the past and present of hip-hop, with three high-profile choreographic collectives who will perform at this soiree event. Hosted by an MC and ending with a moment shared with the teams, the show brings together Nicolas Huchard’s barefoot divas, the legends of 1990s French hip-hop Artizans, and the group Sons of Wind, which explores the history of freestyle.
SONS OF WIND · Bounce · A 2024 Creation
The group SOW (which stands for Sons Of Wind) returns to the origins of freestyle hip-hop, clips of which has come to flood our social media screens. With this high-energy, grooving piece, guided by a love of music and sounds composed specifically for this occasion, the dancers travel between various eras of movement. They embody the values of freestyle in the present: respect, sharing, brother- and sisterhood, and pushing oneself past one’s limits.
NICOLAS HUCHARD · The Barefoot Diva
The Barefoot Diva was born of flash of inspiration when choreographer Nicholas Huchard’s met the five black dancers who are performing this piece. It celebrates the collective will and faith of these women through the power of dance. At a crossroads of African and European cultures, styles, and continents, Séréna Freira, Julie Laventure, Leïla Miretti, Stéphie Téhoué, and Mayvis William dance as a way to transform and reinvent norms.
ARTIZANS · A dance by the legends of French hip-hop • A 2024 Creation
The guardians of the temple of French underground hip-hop, seven legendary dancers from the generation that grew up during the last decade of the twentieth century meet on stage to relive the energy of that era. With a mix of DJ sets and virtuoso dancing, they affirm their and transmit the excellence and values of French hip-hop.
