Kicking off with the arrival of the Olympic Flame on July 26, La Villette – Nations Park attracted over 1.6 million visitors in just under four weeks.
For the first time in Olympic and Paralympic history, fifteen nations, including India, Slovenia, Serbia, the Netherlands, Canada, Mongolia, Brazil, Slovakia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Mexico, Colombia, Chinese Taipei, and of course, and France came together at a single, iconic venue.
During the Paralympic Games, La Villette hosted nearly 240,000 visitors, with highlights like Club France, Casa Colombia, and the debut of Team NL Huis.
All summer long, in collaboration with Paris 2024, La Villette became a hub for sports and culture lovers, offering a vibrant, festive program. These unforgettable moments, marked by medal victories and the arrival of international athletes, featured sports activities for all ages and cultural showcases—all in the spirit of “opening the Games wide.”
“The incredible success of La Villette – Nations Park would not have been possible without the tireless work of the teams, who made La Villette a magical place for everyone.“
Sophie-Justine Lieber, General Director of La Villette
The event also saw strong support from Paris and Île-de-France Region tourism volunteers, as well as Safe Zone associations, ensuring the park’s 55 hectares were enjoyed day and night. With top-notch transport options (including 1,000 bike parking spots) and improved park accessibility (such as two floating bridges over the Ourcq Canal and enhanced pathways for people with reduced mobility), visitors could easily explore the park.
La Villette also welcomed over 400 individuals from local associations, offering them the chance to experience Club France, meet athletes, and enjoy sports demonstrations while learning about the history of the Games.
Throughout the Games, visitors could enjoy La Villette’s extensive facilities, from the Jardin des Voltiges, France’s largest street workout area, to the Archi-Folies 2024 exhibition. As La Villette looks beyond the Paris 2024 Games, exciting new experiences are already being planned for the coming months.
Building on this wonderful adventure, La Villette is already working on the post-Paris 2024 Games and promises a few lovely surprises in the coming months.
