Under the direction of one of the great visionaries of international choreography, the virtuoso ensemble Aterballetto takes its inspiration here from the boundless imagination of the maestro of film music. Notte Morricone will prove to be an unforgettable evening.

Daring to breathe Ennio Morricone’s symphonic force into the domain of choreography demands at least two things: the aesthetic boldness, multidisciplinary mastery, and total approach to movement taken by Marcos Morau, and the vitality of the sixteen performers from the Italian National Centre for Choreography, whose stage presence is captivating both individually and collectively. Driven by their great love of the Seventh Art, this homage to the sublime scores with which generations have grown up nevertheless avoids all nostalgia. It instead plays on the contrasts between a sepia-toned set, humorously evoking the world of filmmaking, and musical arrangements of an unprecedented scope, ultimately inviting audiences to rediscover the work of this towering legend in a new light. From the deserts of the Old West to the melancholy of the cities of the future, the dance uses a singular and highly precise language, that of an artist who literally knows how to sculpt movement. For the past twenty years, this Spanish choreographer, set designer, photographer, and visual artist has collaborated with the world’s greatest ballet companies. Here as well, he has authored an opus that should without question be included in the repertory of contemporary masterpieces.
