A 55-hectare park in the northern part of Paris
It is in this idyllic setting that La Villette’s diverse and ambitious cultural programming takes place. Exhibitions, dance, circus, theatre, and magic performances, along with workshops for children and adults all exemplify the park’s ambition to envision new ways of sharing and interacting with each other.
A model of humanist architecture, the Parc de la Villette sits on 55 hectares in the northern part of Paris. Its meadows, gardens, and buildings signal its vocation of welcoming the practices of many different publics, be they cultural, educational, or athletic.
About twenty meadows and gardens.
First and foremost, it is a place where everyone is free to enjoy the meadows and gardens. There is plenty of room for people to play sports, for which the park provides specific facilities. Paris’ largest park is also a place for people to commune with nature within the confines of the city.
Notable successes include the “Jardins Passagers”, which make the utopia of an ecological, experimental, and educational vegetable garden a reality, while the farm offers visitors the chance to find out more about the animals it houses.
Some lawns are resting, including those south and east of the Grande Halle, and are therefore closed to the public.

La Villette, a cultural space
Cultural programming is the beating heart of La Villette. It features a dizzying array of events that outline a contemporary artistic landscape as welcoming as it is ambitious. The world comes to La Villette in the form of exhibitions, concerts, films, and performances of all kinds.
La Villette’s teams have an unrivalled tool at their disposal for designing and welcoming the many events offered to the public throughout the year – halls, plazas, meadows, marquees, and modular structures – that can be adapted to the most diverse range of artistic events.
Many partners help make this ambitious programming possible.
La Villette, a hub of contemporary architecture
From the bold, modernist vision of the architect Bernard Tschumi to more recent constructions, Parc de La Villette is a space that embodies the new relationship between city and nature. “How to imagine a park that brings people together?” Bernard Tschumi.

La Villette, a park accessible to everyone
At La Villette, we are committed to making our spaces and cultural programme accessible to as many people as possible. As part of this approach, we have produced a presentation video about the park and its cultural offer, designed for Deaf audiences and people with visual impairments, featuring French Sign Language (LSF), subtitles and voice-over.
This commitment is also reflected in concrete initiatives implemented on a daily basis:
- guided tours of the park and its architecture in French Sign Language (LSF), led by Deaf guides, for groups and occasionally for individual visitors;
- a selection of performances accessible in LSF and with audio description;
- vibrating vests available for certain performances;
- captioned performances, with the option to request adapted seating when booking.
Other accessibility features are presented in the video.
