DAFNE BIANCHI / Cie NÉPHÉLÉ • La Breva
SOLEN ATHANASSOPOULOS / CIE MOAKOSSO • KnowNess, l’histoire d'un ancêtre
Approx. 1h20
How do our bodies inherit from those who came before us? Through La Breva and KnowNess, two choreographers explore heritage as a living material, summoning figures from the past in order to think about memory as a force that can inhabit our bodies and be reinvented through movement.
DAFNE BIANCHI / Cie NÉPHÉLÉ • La Breva
In La Breva, Dafne Bianchi shares the stage with her sister Anaïs Mauri to explore what binds them beyond the realm of words. Inspired by the women in their family and their lives in Italy and then in France, they have created a dance permeated with inherited memories, sensations, and gestures. Blending hip-hop and krump, the duo’s performance is both refined and powerful. The absent continue to be present for the living, and a sisterly bond creates a space for support, love, and transmission.
SOLEN ATHANASSOPOULOS / CIE MOAKOSSO • KnowNess, l’histoire d’un ancêtre
In KnowNess, Solen Athanassopoulos explores memory and identity through a collective search situated halfway between hip-hop freestyle and narration. Letters addressed to ancestors become material for dance, in which things remembered and imagined fuse together and become embodied on stage. Between improvisation and composition, the performers navigate by their own voices and those of people who came before them, supported by a live musical performance. The piece turns the stage into a space for the circulation of legacies, in which identity is constructed, shared, and reinvented.
